The agreement was signed in Nairobi by Kenya’s Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife and the High Commissioner of India to Kenya, H.E. Namgya Khampa. The MoU will support Kenya’s conservation priorities through a structured partnership focused on technical training, research exchange, and eco-tourism development.

Key areas of cooperation include capacity building in park management, wildlife security, veterinary services, and community-led conservation. The partnership will facilitate joint workshops and skills exchanges between experts, researchers, and rangers from both countries.

“This MoU marks a significant step in enhancing our technical capabilities while drawing on India’s experience in wildlife protection and eco-tourism,” a Kenyan government official stated during the signing.

The agreement also aims to promote wildlife tourism by improving visitor experiences in Kenya’s parks and reserves, supported by technical inputs from India on protected area development and eco-tourism innovation.

Beyond conservation, the MoU is a reflection of the longstanding economic, historical, and cultural ties between Kenya and India. As Commonwealth members, the two countries continue to expand cooperation across strategic sectors, with conservation emerging as a key area of shared interest.

Officials from both governments affirmed their commitment to translating the MoU into practical programs that will benefit communities, bolster tourism, and safeguard biodiversity.
