Former Lands CS Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi Calls for Integrity Among Legal Practitioners

KIAMBU, Kenya – Former Lands and Education Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Jacob Kaimenyi, has urged legal practitioners in Kenya to uphold the highest standards of integrity in their work.
Speaking during a thanksgiving ceremony for newly admitted advocate Ms. Evajoy Kamuto at a Kiambu hotel, Kaimenyi underscored the pivotal role of judges, magistrates, and lawyers in ensuring justice.
“Judicial officers are pillars of a free and just society. As paragons of virtue, the public expects honesty and impartiality in their delivery of justice,” said Kaimenyi, who is also a former Kenyan Ambassador to Belgium.
He called on young advocates to seek mentorship from seasoned lawyers to hone their skills and deepen their commitment to justice. “Learn from those who came before you. Their wisdom will shape you into better legal practitioners,” he advised.
Ms. Kamuto, the daughter of retired government journalist Joseph Kamuto, was celebrated for her achievement of being admitted to the bar on Friday.
Reverend Mary Muriuki, Kiambu Presbytery moderator and PCEA Banana Parish minister, also addressed the gathering. She echoed Kaimenyi’s sentiments, emphasizing the weight of responsibility placed on legal practitioners by society.
The event highlighted the need for integrity, mentorship, and a strong ethical foundation in Kenya’s legal profession to ensure a just and equitable society.
