Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) President Dr. Eric Rutto joined the Kenya Overseas Chinese Association (KOCA) in celebrating its 12th anniversary, marking a key moment in strengthening Kenya-China business relations.
Held last evening, the event brought together top leaders from the Kenyan business community and their Chinese counterparts, symbolizing the growing synergy between the two economies. Dr. Rutto was joined by KNCCI directors, emphasizing the chamber’s support for international partnerships that drive inclusive growth.
The celebration was hosted by Mr. Gao Wei, Chairman of KOCA and KNCCI member representing Afripeak Expo Kenya Ltd, whose efforts have been instrumental in linking Chinese investors with Kenyan enterprises.
Also present was Counselor Miao Miao from the Chinese Embassy in Kenya, adding diplomatic weight to the occasion and highlighting the critical role of government support in enabling private-sector cooperation.
In his remarks, Dr. Rutto lauded the Chinese community’s contribution to Kenya’s economic landscape and reaffirmed KNCCI’s commitment to advancing bilateral trade, cultural understanding, and joint investment opportunities.
“Partnerships like these are essential for unlocking shared prosperity,” Dr. Rutto said. “We must continue to deepen these ties and explore new frontiers for commerce, technology, and innovation.”
KOCA and the Chinese Council for the Promotion of Peaceful National Reunification both emphasized unity, cultural harmony, and peaceful coexistence as central to their missions—values that resonate with Kenya’s own development principles.
As Kenya and China continue to collaborate in key sectors such as infrastructure, manufacturing, and SMEs, the event underscored the role of business associations in not only fostering trade but also enhancing people-to-people diplomacy.
The evening served as both a celebration of the past and a commitment to the future—one where Kenyan and Chinese entrepreneurs work hand-in-hand to create a more connected, prosperous, and peaceful world.
