PS Susan Auma Mang’eni Rallies MYWO to Drive Women’s Economic Transformation

The Maendeleo Ya Wanawake Organization (MYWO) Board Retreat in Sagana has taken on a bold, transformative tone, thanks to an impassioned address by Principal Secretary Susan Auma Mang’eni, of the State Department for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
Joined by Deputy Government Spokesperson Mwanaisha Chidzuga, PS Mang’eni called on the MYWO leadership to activate their expansive grassroots network as a vehicle for inclusive economic empowerment, especially for women at the community level.
“Women are the backbone of our economy and the lifeblood of our communities. Empowering them is not just a policy priority—it is a national imperative,” Mang’eni declared.
Her message was clear and urgent: Women-owned MSMEs are central to Kenya’s economic resilience, and their success depends on access to capital, training, technology, and markets. She urged the board to break down systemic barriers that continue to hinder women’s entrepreneurial potential.
The Principal Secretary also challenged MYWO to become innovation champions, scaling up grassroots initiatives that deliver tangible change in the lives of everyday Kenyan women.
“We must go beyond representation and into results. Let us build enterprises, not just ideas. Let us support growth, not just survival,” she added.
PS Mang’eni’s presence and passion energized the retreat, igniting a renewed commitment to women’s economic rights and community upliftment.
Her call to action reflects a new era of leadership, where empowering women is seen not only as a moral responsibility, but a strategic path to national development.
The MYWO retreat, with its forward-looking agenda and influential voices, signals a powerful shift—where grassroots engagement and inclusivity are the engines of Kenya’s economic future.
