“The Power of Mercy is not just a constitutional tool—it’s a gateway to renewal,” Muriuki said. “This moment shows what’s possible when reform is real and society chooses compassion over stigma.”

She urged families and communities to continue playing a vital role in supporting reformed individuals, adding that successful reintegration hinges on acceptance, dignity, and opportunity.

The Power of Mercy Advisory Committee continues to partner with correctional institutions, local leaders, and rehabilitation programs to ensure ex-inmates are equipped with counseling, skills, and access to meaningful livelihoods.

Muriuki called on Kenyans to embrace second chances, stressing that mercy is not weakness, but a cornerstone of a just and humane society.

  • The Wajir reintegration marks a powerful example of how justice, anchored in compassion, can restore lives and strengthen communities.
