Kenya and Jordan Strengthen Ties to Boost MSME Sector

Kenya is taking a significant step toward enhancing its Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprise (MSME) sector through a new partnership with the Jordan Enterprise Development Corporation (JEDCO). The collaboration aims to explore trade, investment, technology transfer, and capacity building, creating new growth opportunities for small businesses in both countries.
Kenya’s MSMEs play a crucial role in economic development, contributing to job creation and national productivity. By leveraging partnerships with organizations such as JEDCO, Kenyan businesses can improve their competitiveness and expand into global markets.
Trade relations between Kenya and Jordan have steadily grown, with Kenya exporting goods worth approximately $25.53 million in 2023. Agricultural products such as coffee, tea, and fruits remain key exports, and strengthening MSME collaboration will further enhance these trade ties.
JEDCO, known for supporting Jordanian SMEs in international market expansion, presents a valuable opportunity for Kenyan MSMEs to access Middle Eastern markets. Increased export opportunities and diversified revenue streams will contribute to the long-term sustainability of small businesses in Kenya.
By facilitating access to new markets, particularly in the Middle East, Kenyan MSMEs will be able to scale operations, boost exports, and drive economic growth. The partnership will also allow both nations to share best practices in policy development, creating a more supportive business environment for small enterprises.
This ongoing collaboration between JEDCO and Kenya’s MSME sector is set to unlock new opportunities for growth, innovation, and international trade, further cementing Kenya’s position as a rising player in the global economy.
