Maringo MCA,Residents Poke Hole in Affordable Housing Engagement

Maringo/Hamza MCA Patrick Macharia is now calling on the County Government of Nairobi to put on hold the eviction process of Maringo residents from County Houses until proper public participation is done.
According to Macharia they are not opposed to the affordable housing program but proper public participation must be conducted as provided for in Article 10 of the Constitution.

“They have done shoddy public participation which is against Article 10 of the Constitution on good governance they have also failed to provide these residents with proper information as provided for in Article 35.I will stand with the people and we shall not allow eviction before we are engaged exhaustively.” Macharia told journalists at Cityhall.
Today the area MCA led Maringo Estate Residents Association before Planning and Lands Committee where the team aired their grievances.
“We are only aware of the two meetings so far which are not exhaustive. The County Government has been issuing notices to tenants without clear guidance and information,” The association said.
Maringo, Bahati,Jerico are among estates earmarked for affordable housing project.
