The Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) has applauded the signing into law of the Persons with Disabilities Bill by President William Ruto, calling it a transformative win for equality and inclusion.

The legislation—championed by Senator Crystal Asige—mandates accessibility in public and private institutions and enshrines equal rights in education, employment, and public services for persons with disabilities.

“This law is a bold step toward ending stigma and dismantling systemic barriers,” KEWOPA said in a statement. “We must now focus on urgent, nationwide implementation.”
