Section of leaders with political ambitions are set to be locked out of the contest due to lack of critical documents required for verifications.
For instance some possed forged documents and the IEBC needs to be on high alert to enhance intergrity and transparency in the entire process.
According to human right activist Emmanuel Wekesa , alot needs to be done for the exercise to be successful.
“We need to lock out leaders with fake papers among other documents, We need leaders of intergrity in our country, i urge the IEBC and political parties election boards to act,” he said.
Ironically , the same group of leaders are very vocal and they have intensified their campaign of getting various party tickets as the nominations draws clear.
” Some of the members who lacks genuine basic degree as envisaged in both the constitution and the election Act, 2017 are seriously campaigning,” Wekesa added.
For instance, : Former CAS member, Hon. Mohamed Ibrahim Elmi, the impeached Governor Amb. Mohamed Abdi and others are eying the Governors seat despite lack of basic degree required by law.
According our sources, Elmi successfully contested for Wajir East and Tarbaj Mp consecutively but in 2017, he then publically declared that he will retire from politics ahead of 2022 but he has since made about turn on his own utterances.
The 74 year old politician has recently dcleared that he will be contesting for Wajir gubernatorial seat
Another person with intergrity issues is the impeached Wajir Governor.
A section of the electorates in wajir have been in court for the last 4 years because the impeached county boss had no simple basic degree although the matter is still before the Supreme court.
The said politicians have failed to go litigate before the IEBC Disputes Tribunal and the Political Parties Tribunal which ought to look into academic Certificates before the high Court.
