The Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) has strongly condemned the physical and verbal altercation between two female Members of Parliament, calling it a disgraceful act that undermines the integrity of Parliament and women’s leadership.

In a statement signed by KEWOPA Chairperson Hon. Leah Sankaire, the association described the incident as a betrayal of leadership values, urging the involved MPs to take full responsibility and issue a public apology. “There is no justification—political or otherwise—for such behavior that erodes public trust and sets a poor example for young women aspiring to leadership,” KEWOPA stated.

The association also criticized the circulation of video footage of the incident on social media, calling it an unethical act that further disrespects the dignity of Parliament.

KEWOPA has demanded an immediate and impartial investigation, urging authorities to take swift action. The association reaffirmed its commitment to upholding professionalism among women leaders and called for unity, discipline, and a respectful political environment.

“This should never happen again. Leaders must rise above personal disputes and prioritize the dignity of their office,” the statement concluded.
