Murang’a Deputy Speaker and Kihumbu-ini MCA, Hon. Moses Gachui, has championed a major milestone for youth development with the successful passage of the Murang’a County Sports and Talent Management Bill No. 2 of 2025.
Hon. Gachui chaired the Committee of the Whole Assembly during the crucial debate that saw the Bill sail through. It now awaits assent by Governor Dr. Irungu Kang’ata.
“This is a game-changer,” Gachui said. “The Bill introduces clear structures and funding to ensure sports and talent are managed professionally and sustainably across Murang’a.”
Key highlights include the formation of Ward Sports Committees to coordinate grassroots competitions and the creation of a County Sports Management Committee to oversee policy, promotion, and talent discovery.
“For the first time, young people in Murang’a will have structured support to grow their talents and compete on national and international stages,” Gachui noted.
He emphasized that structured funding mechanisms embedded in the law will address long-standing financial constraints that have hindered local sports programs.
Hon. Gachui described the legislation as a vital step toward commercializing talent and empowering youth. “We are building a future where talent is not just nurtured but transformed into economic opportunity,” he said.
The Bill is expected to revolutionize the sports landscape in Murang’a, positioning the county as a hub for talent and youth empowerment.
