The Optiven Foundation proudly took part in the Waste Symposium 2025, a timely event hosted by the Youth Green Society (YGS) under the leadership of Kimani Mithamo. Centered on the theme “Driving a Circular Economy through Innovation and Community Action,” the symposium convened stakeholders from government, private sector, and civil society to tackle Kenya’s growing waste crisis.
Key agencies such as the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) and Nairobi City County (NCC) led panel discussions on policy, enforcement, and the urgent need for sustainable waste management systems.
A standout feature was the innovation exhibition, where emerging technologies in recycling, reuse, and resource recovery were showcased—highlighting the role of green enterprises in job creation and environmental protection.
In line with its mission to uplift communities and protect the planet, the Optiven Foundation actively participated in discussions, reinforcing its commitment to environmental stewardship and youth empowerment through green entrepreneurship.
“This symposium reaffirms the power of partnerships and innovation in building resilient, eco-conscious communities,” said a Foundation representative. “The future of Kenya lies in collective action and environmental justice.”
As Kenya strives for a circular economy, forums like Waste Symposium 2025 offer critical momentum for policy reform, innovation, and grassroots impact. The Optiven Foundation remains dedicated to being a driver of sustainable transformation—one empowered community at a time.
