Paul Biego Champions Grassroots Voice in Chesumei Public Participation Forum

Chesumei MP Hon. Paul Biego has reaffirmed his commitment to people-driven governance after leading a robust public participation forum aimed at collecting views on proposed constitutional amendments and national development priorities.
Held on Thursday, the event drew a diverse crowd—including youth, people with disabilities (PWDs), students, clergy, and local administrators—highlighting the inclusive nature of the process.
“Laws must reflect the people’s reality,” said Biego. “That only happens when we engage them directly.”
Joined by Nandi Hills MP Hon. Benard Kitur and Marakwet West MP Hon. Timothy Kipchumba, Biego emphasized the need to embed community voices in national reforms. Discussions centered on the role of funds like NG-CDF and NGAAF, which residents credited for improving access to education and supporting single mothers and widows.
Salome Yego Biwot, a retired teacher, urged constitutional protection for grassroots funds, while PWD representative Collins Kipkoech backed NGAAF’s legal entrenchment to safeguard vulnerable groups.
Participants welcomed the idea of enhanced local funding but expressed caution over the proposed Senate Oversight Fund, calling for further dialogue before legislation.
Hon. Biego thanked the residents for their active participation and pledged to ensure their feedback shapes national policy outcomes.
