Faith Odhiambo, the President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK), has issued a resolute statement addressing the ongoing human rights violations in Kenya. On behalf of the legal fraternity and allied organizations, Odhiambo called for the immediate release of individuals recently reported missing, alleging the involvement of the Kenya Police Service in these abductions.
Odhiambo stated, “The President’s pledge to release abducted individuals confirms that the Kenya Police Service is in possession of those reported missing. The ignorance feigned by the Inspector General must, therefore, come to an end.”
The LSK, in collaboration with organizations like the Police Reform Working Group – Kenya and Medics for Kenya, is actively documenting acts of repression and aggression against citizens. This effort aims to ensure accountability and safeguard constitutional rights.
Urging strict adherence to the law, Odhiambo emphasized the responsibility of the Kenya Police Service to uphold justice, while encouraging the public to report any instances of misconduct through established LSK channels.
The statement reflects a collective resolve among human rights advocates to protect the freedoms of Kenyans. Faith Odhiambo closed by calling on citizens to remain vigilant and committed to holding authorities accountable.
