Dr. Paul Sharp, Director of Sharp Education Centre and Junior School in Kayole Corner, Nairobi, and a National Executive Council Member of the Unified APBET Schools Association (UASA-Kenya), has shared an inspiring New Year message, calling for a renewed focus on education, effective leadership, and national cohesion.
Parenting and Education
Dr. Sharp emphasized the critical role of parents in shaping the future, urging them to actively support learners under the Competency-Based Curriculum (CBC). For secondary school students, particularly those in Forms Two to Four, he encouraged a commitment to hard work and integrity, discouraging exam malpractice while focusing on career pathways.
Government Support for Education
Calling on the government, Dr. Sharp advocated for:
- Recruitment of more teachers in public schools.
- Timely and adequate capitation for learners.
- Enhanced support for CBC implementation.
He also appealed for the reinstatement of capitation funding for low-cost private schools (APBET), highlighting their role in providing education to underserved communities.
National Unity and Leadership
Dr. Sharp urged politicians to adopt constructive approaches to resolving differences, warning against divisive tactics. He suggested revisiting the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) to foster dialogue and address national challenges ahead of the next general elections.
To the presidency, he emphasized the need for genuine dialogue with stakeholders and encouraged advisors to provide honest, actionable feedback to guide decision-making.
A Message of Hope
Dr. Sharp called on Kenyans to embrace unity, resilience, and integrity as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of 2025. His message serves as a reminder of the collective effort required to create a stronger, more cohesive nation.
As Kenya steps into the New Year, Dr. Sharp’s reflections highlight the critical areas for growth and collaboration in education, leadership, and community building.
