Acting on intelligence, the team apprehended the suspects at Rodi Market in Homabay Sub-County. The individuals, identified as Benard Omondi Sunga, a Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) service member, and his accomplices George Oloo and Argwings Watta, were intercepted in a black Kluger, registration number KBM 463G. Upon searching the vehicle, officers discovered a 2.9kg rhino horn hidden inside.

The suspects were arraigned in court today to face charges related to wildlife trafficking. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to combating wildlife crimes and protecting Kenya’s rich biodiversity.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), in collaboration with KWS and other partners, continues to intensify efforts to curb wildlife trafficking, sending a strong message to perpetrators of such crimes.
