This milestone event highlighted the shared commitment to fostering resilience and long-term development in Kenya’s ASAL regions.
The launch, attended by key stakeholders, celebrated the collaborative spirit that drives progress in these regions. Among the dignitaries present were USAID Deputy Administrator from the Washington Office, Mia Beers, the Deputy Governors of Isiolo and Marsabit Counties, officials from both national and county governments, development partners, and representatives from the private sector.
Governor Nathif Jama expressed his gratitude to USAID Kenya, the principal donor, and all implementing partners for their unwavering support. He emphasized the manual’s significance in aligning efforts and ensuring sustainable development tailored to the unique challenges of ASAL counties.
The event also recognized the Council of Governors for its exemplary leadership in fostering partnerships for resilience. This acknowledgment underscores the vital role of intergovernmental collaboration in addressing the pressing needs of Kenya’s ASAL communities.
Governor Jama lauded the Joint Work Planning Manual as a tool for fostering unity, accountability, and measurable progress, paving the way for impactful change in regions that have long faced climate-related and socio-economic challenges. With development partners and local governments working hand in hand, the manual is poised to drive meaningful transformation across ASAL counties.
