Gatanga, Kenya – In a significant move to improve the quality of education in Gatanga Constituency, Hon. Edward Muriu, the local Member of Parliament, has launched an extensive renovation and modernization initiative targeting all 87 primary and junior secondary schools in the area. Kenya’s Constitution guarantees the right to free and compulsory basic education under Article 53 (1) (b), and mandates the State to implement affirmative action programs to ensure youth access to relevant education and training, as outlined in Article 55 (a). Additionally, Article 56 (b) provides for special opportunities in education for minorities and marginalized groups.
Hon. Muriu, a staunch believer in the idea that “education is the great equalizer,” is putting these constitutional rights into action.
