Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has given wide berth concerns on whether the Kitui locals who offered information on Kamiti escapees will be given the KSh 60 million reward.
Speaking on Thursday, November 18, at Kamiti Maximum Security Prison after the three were returned to jail, the Interior CS asked Kenyans not to speculate anything because the government will work meticulously on the matter.
“No…no…no, we are not going there at the moment. Let us not be speculative about this. We are going to work on this meticulously as my colleagues have said,” he said.

He was responding to a question on whether the Kitui locals will get the hefty cash prize of 60 million.
Musharaf Abdalla alias Alex Shikanda, Joseph Juma Odhiambo and Mohammed Ali Abikar were arrested in Mwingi East, Kitui county.
Members of the public who became suspicious alerted security agents after spotting the escapee convicts in Malalani market. They were buying milk, biscuits and bread.
