Standard Chartered Bank has launched the 7th edition of the highly anticipated Standard Chartered Cup, a 5-a-side futsal tournament celebrating the Bank’s partnership with Liverpool FC.

This exciting event offers the winning team an exclusive, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to visit Anfield Stadium in England to watch Liverpool FC play live in a Premier League match.

The tournament will take place on November 30, 2024, at the Kenya School of Monetary Studies grounds in Nairobi. Amateur teams will compete for the ultimate prize: an all-expenses-paid trip to Anfield to watch Liverpool FC face Arsenal FC in a thrilling showdown.

Addressing the media, Joyce Kibe, Head of Corporate Affairs, Brand, and Marketing for Kenya and Africa, stated:

“I am extremely proud of our partnership with Liverpool FC, which allows us to create and deliver unique, money-can’t-buy experiences like this. This year, we will host 40 client teams, all battling for the grand prize of an all-expenses-paid trip to Anfield, the home of Liverpool Football Club. I encourage all invited corporates to seize this opportunity promptly, as it’s on a first-come, first-serve basis. I would also like to thank past participants and our media partners for their continued support on this journey.”

The SC Cup is a competitive yet enjoyable 5-a-side futsal tournament, with 10-minute matches open to Standard Chartered’s corporate clients, SME banking entities, Liverpool FC fans, and media partners. Participation is by invitation only. Each team comprises seven amateur players (five on the field and two substitutes), and participants must not have played professional or semi-professional football within the past three years.

The tournament format will include round-robin group-stage games, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the knockout rounds. The competition will conclude with a final match to crown the 2024 SC Cup champions.

Beyond attending a live Premier League match at Anfield, the winning team will participate in a training session at the Liverpool FC Academy with an LFC legend, tour the club’s museum, and visit the Beatles Story.

“The SC Cup has become more than just a tournament. It’s an experience that deepens our client connections, celebrates our shared passion for football, and highlights our global reach and network capabilities. We encourage all participating teams to train hard and bring their best game to the field,” added Ms. Kibe.
