Nairobi, Kenya – As Kenyans prepare for holiday travel, the Matatu Owners Association, led by President Hon. Albert Karakacha, has urged road users to prioritize safety during this busy season. The association highlighted the spike in road accidents during the festive period and stressed the importance of caution and adherence to traffic rules.
“Travelling for the holidays? Plan your route ahead and ensure your vehicle is roadworthy. Keep left unless overtaking,” President Karakacha advised.
The association shared key safety tips:
- Avoid Overspeeding: Maintain safe speeds, especially on busy highways or in bad weather.
- Observe Road Courtesy: Respect other drivers and avoid aggressive behavior.
- Take Regular Breaks: Rest to avoid fatigue on long trips.
- Always Wear Seatbelts: Ensure all passengers, including those in the back seat, buckle up.
- Drive Sober: Avoid alcohol and drugs, which impair focus and reaction time.
Hon. Karakacha also called on law enforcement to strictly enforce traffic regulations while being supportive to drivers and passengers.
“Many holiday accidents are preventable with simple precautions. Let’s work together to ensure every traveler arrives safely,” he said.
As Kenyans hit the roads, the Matatu Owners Association encourages everyone to be responsible road users, ensuring a safe and joyous festive season for all.
