In a heartwarming Thanksgiving event, the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) celebrated the transformation of individuals who have overcome addiction through its community-based rehabilitation program. Held under the leadership of Rev. Meshach Sankale, the event brought together reformed addicts, their families, and clergy to acknowledge the power of recovery and resilience.
Since its inception, the program has successfully rehabilitated over 30 individuals, many of whom have reintegrated into society, returned to work, and repaired fractured relationships. The event underscored that addiction is a treatable disease, not a moral failing, and highlighted the importance of compassion and community involvement in the recovery process.
“We thank God for the progress we’ve witnessed,” said Rev. Sankale. “But this is just the beginning. We urge clergy nationwide to open their church halls and create sanctuaries for healing and restoration.”
The call to action extended to all stakeholders, urging communities to play a proactive role in combating addiction. NACADA emphasized that the fight against addiction requires collaboration and consistent support to ensure no one is left behind on the journey to recovery.
This celebration serves as a beacon of hope, showing that with faith, support, and dedication, addiction can be overcome, paving the way for a brighter, healthier future
