Prof. Catherine Gachutha, Director of the Kenya Institute of Business and Counselling Studies (KIBCo) and Chairperson of the Kenya Counselling and Psychological Association (KCPA), has condemned explicit caricatures circulating on social media that exploit women’s bodies for political propaganda.
Prof. Gachutha labeled the doctored images as sexist, demeaning, and a gross violation of women’s dignity. She criticized their widespread sharing, which she said normalizes disrespect and exposes children to harmful content.
“This is not just an attack on women; it’s an attack on our values as a society,” said Prof. Gachutha, calling for immediate action from social media platforms, regulators, and civil society to curb the spread of such content.
She urged leaders to condemn the use of women’s bodies in political messaging and to enforce stricter online protections to safeguard dignity and uphold societal morals.
Women leaders have vowed to resist the exploitation of gender under the guise of activism, demanding accountability for such actions. Prof. Gachutha emphasized that respect for women’s dignity must remain a societal priority.
