Aquila Expands into Rwanda and Uganda, Strengthening Regional Growth for Homegrown Firms

Aquila East Africa, a leading Kenyan integrated communications firm has officially expanded into Rwanda and Uganda, signifying the growing potential of homegrown businesses across East Africa.

Kenyan SMEs have witnessed impressive growth in recent years, with reports from the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics showing SMEs contribute over 30% of the country’s GDP and employ more than 80% of the workforce.

Aquila’s regional expansion aligns with its 2023-2026 strategic plan, reinforcing the firm’s commitment to catalyze economic development and create market linkages across East Africa.

Making the announcement, Kester Muhanji, Managing Director at Aquila noted that the firm’s expansion underlines the potential for local businesses to scale and strengthen the region’s economic ecosystem.

“As a Kenyan-based firm, we are proud to bring our services to new markets, strengthening the role of homegrown businesses in driving regional economic progress. With our entry into Uganda and Rwanda, we hope to foster self-sustaining ecosystem for specialized services which are essential to business resilience and growth across industries”, added Kester.

To oversee this ambitious expansion, Aquila has appointed Bonny L’souza as Board Chair and Anne Ngatia as a board member, each bringing extensive expertise in business strategy, marketing and operations.  

Their over 30-years collective experience will provide Aquila with invaluable insights and access to industry networks as it builds its presence in Rwanda and Uganda.
